The Southern Region of Iota Sweethearts, Inc. in collaboration with the Gulf Coast Region will be hosting the 6th Annual Sweetheart Silent Auction on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
The auction will take place during the awards banquet of a conjoined conference between the two regions.
The auction originally started out as a live auction held during the Fall Southern Regional Meeting in Little Rock, AR in November 2010. During the joint meeting between Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and the then Iota Sweetheart Auxiliary, when the agenda reached New Business, the Regional Polaris, Bro. Marcus Gaut, yielded the floor to the Hearts, where they presented three items that the brothers actively bid on, grossing about $70.00 and providing the seed money for what would eventually become known as the Ms. Audrey Brooks Scholarship Fund.
The auction serves to raise money for the Ms. Audrey Brooks Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships for graduating high school seniors, to help off-set the cost of tuition and other college-related expenses. Since its inception, the scholarship has been awarded to four deserving students, attending colleges and universities in Texas, Louisiana and South Carolina.
With every passing year, the auction has become a highly anticipated event, especially among the brotherhood, as the auction committee strives to plan a quality fundraiser with a variety of new, exciting and one-of-a kind items to offer its donors and supporters.
