7th Annual Iota Sweetheart Silent Auction and Art Showcase
The Far West Region and Southern Region of Iota Sweethearts, Inc. are collaborating to present the 7th Annual Sweetheart Silent Auction.
The annual silent auction raises money for the regional scholarship fund, which awards scholarships for graduating high school seniors, to help off-set the cost of tuition and other college-related expenses.
The Iota Sweetheart Silent Auction actually started as a live auction during the Fall Southern Regional Meeting in Little Rock, AR in November 2010. During the joint meeting between Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and the Iota Sweethearts Auxiliary, Regional Polaris Bro. Marcus Gaut yielded the floor to the sweethearts, where they presented three items that the brothers actively bid on. Grossing about $70.00, this became the seed money for what would eventually become the scholarship fund of Iota Sweethearts, Inc.-Southern Region.
Since its inception, the scholarship has been awarded to four deserving students, attending colleges and universities in Texas, Louisiana and South Carolina. With every passing year, the auction has become a highly anticipated event, especially among the Iota brotherhood, as the auction committee strives to plan a quality fundraiser with a variety of exciting, unique and one-of-a kind items to offer its donors and supporters.
This year’s collaboration with the Far West Region will feature an art exhibit that will highlight works of art created by the brothers of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and the women of Iota Sweethearts, Inc., and promises to be another signature event, as has been the tradition of the Southern Region.
